Try to only send one email a week. Most of your customer base probably has to tend to many other email messages each day. Customers may skip your emails if they receive too many of them.

Always get customers’ permission before sending them emails. If you’re sending out emails that are considered as spam, people may not take you very serious. Some customers will be significantly annoyed and cut the connection with you altogether by bringing their business elsewhere.

Email marketing is a good way to let your customers know about special events or holidays deals. Make your business promotion plan to include a schedule for the entire year. Develop relevant campaigns for important retail holidays such as Christmas, Valentine’s day, Easter and other important dates. Try to market a little extra during slow sales periods.

Simply put, do not buy a haphazard list of emails that will probably contain consumers who have no interest in what you are offering. Place a prominent unsubscribe link in your email messages so customers can easily get off your list, if they don’t want your messages anymore. Do not send emails that use images to convey the most important information. Many readers will be using email clients that will not load images automatically, in order to protect their privacy. This can make your messages ugly or even unreadable if they are too reliant on images. Use clear and readable text for your relevant information, and ensure that all images have a descriptive alt tag.

Use quick and catchy subject lines. Subject lines that have more than 60 characters are less likely to grab the attention of readers. If long subjects simply cannot be avoided, always be sure to include any essential information at the start of the subject line. Doing this will ensure that readers always see it first.

Limit subject lines in your emails to 60 characters or less. Most email platforms will cut subject lines to that length. Other email clients are not able to show anything that is longer than that. Whatever the case, your subscriber probably only needs that many characters to decide whether to read or delete your message.

The last thing you need is to be accused of sending spam, so be sure to take precautions to guard against this, including an email-list opt-in confirmation. This means a confirmation email must be clicked to fully register for the newsletter. Put two links inside the email, one that allows the contact to agree to the subscription and another that lets them opt out of it. Doing so protects your client’s security and ensures that they don’t think you are spam.

Do not send marketing emails to those who have not requested them. When you send out your emails to everyone, many people will mark them as spam. This is very bad for business and you may be blocked by certain Internet providers.

It may sound obvious, but it is very important to ensure that you store correct email addresses. Don’t waste time receiving email addresses, only to get a message that the address was invalid. This is just a time waster.

Email marketers should always proofread all submissions. Many people forget this step, which is unfortunate. It’s just email, correct? That’s not true! Your emails must be sent out the right way and in an attractive manner, as it is the most important part of any marketing campaign.

Add some personalized touches to your emails. You can do much more than merely using the recipient’s name in your message. Use all of the information you’ve gathered about your subscribers. If your competitors offer incentives or promotions, be competitive with yours and offer something better.
